A card game's tricks

In early 2015, millions of Android users have reported a certain game app called Durak; a card game which stayed available at Google Play for quite some time. This malware is said to have been the most widespread of the malicious apps with 5 – 10 million downloads according to Google Play.

To give a little insight about the Durak game app, after users have installed the game app for the first time it will just run as normally as it should. But after a device reboot and a couple of days later, users will start noticing some issues. Now, each time the user unlocks their device, an ad or bogus warning will be presented to them onscreen. Users will be given a choice whether to ignore the warning or approve of a certain action. If the user approves, they will be redirected to various phishing webpages or malicious third-party app stores that present other malicious malware to the user for download.
